Throwback Thursday: S Club 7 #TBT

Back in 1999, the British band S Club 7 burst onto the music scene with their hit “Bring It All Back.” We met the Spice Girls a few years earlier. But this British band was something new–a mixture of both genders. It featured Rachel Stevens, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O’Meara, Jon Lee, Paul Cattermole, Tina Barrett and Hannah Spearritt. S Club 7’s television show “Miami 7” was already popular on BBC One, and soon after was exported to the United States, and renamed “S Club 7 in Miami,” which aired on the formerly titled Fox Family channel.

That, my friends, is the inspiration for this throwback Thursday. So, sit back and enjoy one of my favorite S Club 7 music videos, “Bring It All Back.”

Tuesday Tune: Pharrell’s #Happy

There’s nothing better than a song that instantly brightens your day when it comes on. Right now, that’s Pharrell’s Oscar-nominated “Happy” for me. I can’t help but clapping along, dancing around and even throwing in some spirit fingers when this song starts playing. The best part–In the music video, people are dancing down the street just being happy. Happiness is contagious!

If you haven’t heard it yet, then check it out below:

“Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you. Clap along if feel like that’s what you want to do.”

Just dance. Be happy.

Monday Motivation: Just Don’t Care What People Think. #Dance

We spend a lot of our waking time caring what other people think–how they perceive us. As someone who spends most of her time interacting with people, I’m always thinking about how I’m perceived and how that reflects upon the company I work for.

One of the greatest lessons I learned in school was, perception is reality. Sometimes it’s difficult to flip the caring switch off. This Monday motivation is inspired by Phoebe Buffay. Yep, that Phoebe Buffay. The Phoebe Buffay of “Smelly Cat” fame. In this Friends episode, Rachel and Phoebe go running in Central Park. While Rachel is focused on fitting in with the other runners, Phoebe runs with her hands flailing about. As the episode progresses Rachel sneaks out of the apartment to go running without Phoebe. She’s ashamed of the attention Phoebe draws to them. Watch it for yourself here:

Yesterday, in the cold, arctic tundra that is Minnesota, the sun came out. As someone who hasn’t seen the sun in months, I decided to take my workout outside–ice skating I went. I hadn’t been ice skating in years. After a few trips around the rink, I hit my groove. This is where Justin Timberlake Pandora Radio comes into play. The dance moves came out on the ice. I’m sure it was funny for people to watch. But I haven’t felt that free in a long time. Not a care in the world.

I encourage you to turn your favorite song up, and dance it out. Who cares what you look like, just have fun!

The #TonightShow With Jimmy Fallon: Top 5 Moments of the Week

In case you haven’t heard, Jimmy Fallon started his spot as host of the Tonight Show on Feb. 17. Fallon’a Tonight Show premiere drew 11.3 million viewers , according to TVLine, which is the second largest audience since Jay Leno’s first send-off show in May 2009. But Fallon’s first week as the new Tonight Show host has brought us many memorable moments… already. Fallon has had everyone from U2 to Lady Gaga to Jerry Seinfeld to First Lady Michelle Obama on

Here are my top 5 Tonight Show moments of the week:

1. The Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing with Will Smith. Can you ever go wrong with an evolution of… insert whichever genre of dance you prefer–mom dancing, end zone dancing. You name it, Fallon can do no wrong in this area.

2. Brian Williams rapping “Rapper’s Delight” feat. Lester Holt and Kathie Lee Gifford. “Hotel motel, Holiday Inn. If your girl starts acting up then you take her friend.” Brian Williams slowing jamming the news. Fantastic. Clips of Brian Williams rapping. AMAZING. I lose it when KLG enters the frame.

3. Ignition (Remix) with the Ragtime Gals. Jimmy Fallon + Barbershop quartet. It’s just too good to be true. Process that, and then realize they’re singing an R. Kelly song. You will completely die of glee. The best part–they sing it REALLY well.

4. #Hashtag2. The first #Hashtag starring Fallon and Justin Timberlake raised the bar. I don’t know about you, but everyone I know, including myself, started hashtagging everything. It was a critique on society that reverberated within pop culture. And now, Jonah Hill joined Fallon and did it all over again. #somanyharrypotterreferences #idiedwiththefriendsjokes #millennials

5. The History of Rap 5 starring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. Fallon closed out the week with the strongest episode yet. After this episode, the show should be called The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. These pals brought the house down. Words cannot describe how amazing these two are together. They feed off of each other, and their performances get exponentially better. If you don’t believe me, then watch for yourself.

These are what I consider to be the top five performances of Jimmy Fallon’s first week as host of the Tonight Show. With that said, I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Jimmy on the Tonight Show.

It’s Official: Taylor Swift to Perform at VS Fashion Show

It’s official, guys! Taylor Swift will be performing at this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, according to Taylor’s Facebook. 1395446_10151806579465369_1450545433_n

You  must understand my joy. This combines two of my absolute favorite things in the world–Victoria’s Secret and Taylor Swift. Therefore, you should expect there was a loud gasp when I learned of the news.

Taylor posted the following image on her Facebook, and shortly thereafter most social mediums were blowing up: Twitter, Instagram, you name it.

In honor of Taylor performing at the VS Fashion Show, which will film tomorrow and air Dec. 10 on CBS, I leave you with the wise words of the Red singer.

1. “Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.”enhanced-buzz-822-1383882898-5

2. “Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.”enhanced-buzz-24155-1383974463-0

Be fearless and be kind to people. Walk on, angels. Walk on.

Soundtrack of My Life: May 2

Love — it’s the theme of this playlist. An unknown love. A  first love. A love for life. A love for anything. So let’s get started.

1. “I Wish” by One Direction: I’ve finally jumped on the latest British boy band invasion. Recently, I downloaded Spotify in an attempt to save money rather than purchasing every song I like on iTunes (Yes, it saves money but you can’t put them on CD), and I kept listening to this song over and over again, which is why I have included it here. The song is about a boy who is in love with a girl and, of course, she’s with another guy. Maybe it’s the love triangle but this story line always tears at my heart. It’s “tearing me apart because you don’t see.”

2. “Gold Forever” by The Wanted: Make moments that you can love forever. Make each day stay “gold forever.” Yes, this is another British band (I just can’t resist them!) but the message is clear — don’t take a moment for granted — realize and accept what you’re fortunate enough to have in front of you.

3. “Both of Us” by B.o.B featuring Taylor Swift: Dear iTunes, you should automatically download anything with Taylor Swift into my library upon release. Plain and simple. Thanks. I’m going to buy it, much like I did when John Mayer released “Half of my Heart” featuring Taylor and then, of course, she was barely in the song (Clever marketing, Mr. Mayer. Well played.). What do I love most about this song? Taylor doesn’t let labels keep her from collaborating with people outside of the country music genre — The Civil Wars — and now B.o.B. Love. Can’t stop playing this song.

4. “Stronger” by Ed Sheeran: You’ve probably already heard this song but didn’t realize it — It’s featured in the latest Victoria’s Secret commercial. That commercial captures the essence of this song. The sun shining. The palm trees blowing in the wind. Two people on a beach. The combination of his voice and the music is bliss — almost whimsical.

5. “Distance” by Christina Perri: The simplicity of the lyrics speaks volumes. I’d classify this as the female point of view in regard to the One Direction listed above. If you love this song, then you should also listen to “Arms.” Love Christina Perri and the honesty of her music.

What do you love? Who ever it is or whatever it is, tell them you love them or just get out and do what you love most.

I love love.

Happy Wednesday!

Soundtrack of My Life: April 6

Happy Friday everyone! Let’s get the weekend started with some songs to add to your playlist.

1. “Dance Again (Feat. Pitbull)” by Jennifer Lopez: JLo and Pitbull are back at it again. And I cannot stop playing this song over and over again. It’s perfect for taking your workout outdoors and hitting the pavement.

2. “Watching You Watch Him” by Eric Hutchinson: His voice mixed with the guitar is the essence of sitting in the sun as the wind blows and you watch that someone special who has absolutely no idea how much you care for them. Great song.

3. “What Makes You Beautiful” by One Direction: How can you not fall in love with this song? I want to sing it to everyone, and it definitely is a mood booster when working out.

4. “Run (Feat. Jennifer Nettles)” by Matt Nathanson: I’m a HUGE Matt Nathanson fan and, of course, this song is perfection! Matt and Jennifer recently performed on Dancing With The Stars — one of my personal favorites — two of the professional dancers performed as Matt and Jennifer sang. It made this song ten times hotter. Perfection.

5. “Part of Me” by Katy Perry: Everyone needs an anthem, and here it is. Enough said. Well done, Katy Perry. Well done.

Haven’t found your anthem yet? Well, keep looking and let me know when you do.

Have a great weekend!
