Happy Castleversary!

tumblr_n26ou0EAih1so43z4o1_500Five years ago today, I was sitting in my bedroom watching “Dancing With The Stars” and doing homework. And then this little show called “Castle” came on. It was the first episode “Flowers For Your Grave.” I was immediately intrigued.

At this point, I had watched most of the various branches of the “Law & Order” dynasty. While they had great cases, the episodes were too rigid. Rarely did you get to know more about Olivia and Stabler. But with “Castle,” it was something new. Richard Castle who is mystery novelist but acts like a cop pushes Det. Kate Beckett’s buttons with his presence. We got to see him at home with Alexis, his daughter, and Martha, his mother, and at the precinct with Ryan and Esposito. Family ties were established as well as bromances. But ultimately, he was intrigued by the cases, and he was intrigued by her story. And then it became their story.

Five years. Six seasons. And the rest is history.

Happy Castleversary, Castle fandom!

Performer of the Week: Castle’s Stana Katic

This was, if not, the best episode of the season thus far. I’m a firm believer that you cannot judge a season by one episode. But this episode had me sitting with my hands covering my face. The writing was phenomenal. The cinematography was outstanding. And words cannot describe Stana Katic’s performance.

Spoiler alert: If you have not seen Castle’s “The Belly of the Beast,” then do not read this due to episode spoilers.

THE EPISODE| “In the Belly of the Beast”

THE AIRDATE| March 3, 2014

THE PERFORMANCE| It was an unusual yet seemingly manageable assignment for NYPD Detective Kate Beckett — to do the narcotics division a solid by posing as low-level drug dealer Elena Markov and thus hopefully get eyes on a big fish dubbed “Lazarus.” But no sooner did the undercover op get underway, it went horribly awry.

As Beckett was abducted and lobbed into the back of a van, Katic at first showed us a cop who kept relatively cool and collected, hoping that her oral narrative about where and how far she was being taken was being picked up…

Best Moments of the #Oscars: Selfies, Photobombs, & Breaking Twitter

You can never go wrong when Ellen is hosting. Period.

There were high expectations coming into this evening’s broadcast of the #Oscars, especially after Ellen’s fantastic commercial. She dances down the street to Fitz and the Tantrums’ “The Walker” as dancers follow her lead.

Here is my list of the top five moments of the Oscars. Ellen you’re killing it so far.

1. The opening monologue. Ellen said, “It is the Hunger Games. There are cameras everywhere, you’re all starving, and Jennifer Lawrence won last year.” The content. The delivery. Her expressions. Everything was spot on.

2. Pharrell performs “Happy” from “Despicable Me 2.” Meryl Streep, Amy Adams and Lupita Nyong’o dance, shimmy and shake it with Pharrell.

3. That moment when Ellen broke Twitter. Best. Selfie. Ever.

Ellen requested everyone Retweet this photo, which then produced this result.

4. Then she posted this photo of JLaw backstage. Best. Caption. Ever. “A rare photo of Jennifer Lawrence standing up. #oscars” This was taken after Jennifer Lawrence fell down on the Red Carpet. And, of course, how could we forget her fall last year as she walked to the stage.

5. And then there was that time Ellen photobombed Sandra Bullock and Leonardo DiCaprio.

These were only a few of the fantastic moments from the Oscars.

Ellen, you killed it! Sign her up for the next few years. She broke Twitter. What more social interaction could you want?!

Stana Katic Previews Castle’s Darkest Hour Ever — and the Deeply Romantic Moment Within

I’m dying for tomorrow’s all-new episode of Castle. Until then, read this great interview with Stana Katic, who plays Det. Kate Beckett.

Castle Spoilers Beckett Undercover This Monday on Castle (ABC, 10/9c), Beckett is abruptly called on to help the NYPD’s narcotics division with a seemingly simple sting, by posing as a low-level drug courier to reel in a bigger fish. But when things don’t go at all as planned, suffice it to say she won’t be home in time for dinner with Rick, as promised.

Stana Katic shared with TVLine a preview of what she calls Castle‘s darkest hour, yet one that in turn offers “really special” insight into bride-to-be Kate’s mindset. Also, the actress’ thoughts on Kate and Alexis’ recent heart-to-heart and whether we are truly heading for a wedding. (Note: Mild, thematic spoilers are touched on.)

The #TonightShow With Jimmy Fallon: Top 5 Moments of the Week

In case you haven’t heard, Jimmy Fallon started his spot as host of the Tonight Show on Feb. 17. Fallon’a Tonight Show premiere drew 11.3 million viewers , according to TVLine, which is the second largest audience since Jay Leno’s first send-off show in May 2009. But Fallon’s first week as the new Tonight Show host has brought us many memorable moments… already. Fallon has had everyone from U2 to Lady Gaga to Jerry Seinfeld to First Lady Michelle Obama on

Here are my top 5 Tonight Show moments of the week:

1. The Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing with Will Smith. Can you ever go wrong with an evolution of… insert whichever genre of dance you prefer–mom dancing, end zone dancing. You name it, Fallon can do no wrong in this area.

2. Brian Williams rapping “Rapper’s Delight” feat. Lester Holt and Kathie Lee Gifford. “Hotel motel, Holiday Inn. If your girl starts acting up then you take her friend.” Brian Williams slowing jamming the news. Fantastic. Clips of Brian Williams rapping. AMAZING. I lose it when KLG enters the frame.

3. Ignition (Remix) with the Ragtime Gals. Jimmy Fallon + Barbershop quartet. It’s just too good to be true. Process that, and then realize they’re singing an R. Kelly song. You will completely die of glee. The best part–they sing it REALLY well.

4. #Hashtag2. The first #Hashtag starring Fallon and Justin Timberlake raised the bar. I don’t know about you, but everyone I know, including myself, started hashtagging everything. It was a critique on society that reverberated within pop culture. And now, Jonah Hill joined Fallon and did it all over again. #somanyharrypotterreferences #idiedwiththefriendsjokes #millennials

5. The History of Rap 5 starring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. Fallon closed out the week with the strongest episode yet. After this episode, the show should be called The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. These pals brought the house down. Words cannot describe how amazing these two are together. They feed off of each other, and their performances get exponentially better. If you don’t believe me, then watch for yourself.

These are what I consider to be the top five performances of Jimmy Fallon’s first week as host of the Tonight Show. With that said, I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Jimmy on the Tonight Show.

Happy Galentine’s Day!

Gal Valentine’s Day. Absolutely not. Galentine’s Day. It’s February 13–a day dedicated to you celebrating your lady friends! Thanks to Leslie Knope, who is played by Amy Poehler on the NBC show Parks and Recreation, I learned of this day. Ever since, the best friend and I have celebrated our friendship. Still not quite sure about Galentine’s Day? Here’s Leslie Knope to further explain it:

I have to agree with Leslie Knope, it should be a national holiday!

You  must understand my joy. This combines two of my absolute favorite things in the world–Victoria’s Secret and Taylor Swift. Therefore, you should expect there was a loud gasp when I learned of the news.

Taylor posted the following image on her Facebook, and shortly thereafter most social mediums were blowing up: Twitter, Instagram, you name it.

In honor of Taylor performing at the VS Fashion Show, which will film tomorrow and air Dec. 10 on CBS, I leave you with the wise words of the Red singer.
